Interesting. He may have had a pathological problem with disputing not because he saw not.Alexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14724409661360473452noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4172451149432147710.post-40967096704836986202017-08-16T10:00:33.942-04:002017-08-16T10:00:33.942-04:00This is brilliant! Martin Harris hoped so much for this to be true that he gave up his farm and small fortune. He hoped to see the plates but later admitted to not touching them or even seeing them with his physical eyes. He saw them with his spiritual eyes. He followed Moroni's definition of faith. And yes, he was "sucked into every scam and cult" that came his way. Besides following Joseph's cult, he also followed the Strangites, Whitmerites, Gladdenites, Williamites, and Shakers. Then he was baptized back into Brigham's version.

I too am bothered by the "mountain" reference. It's so crazy. I've actually heard people refer to this but then the excuse for not moving one is that god doesn't want it moved. Now if it were metaphorical, that would be different. People could make "mountainous" changes in their lives through faith in themselves and the help of loved ones who support them, but this is not how the verse is framed. It's literal. I hate it when people say "I have faith in you" or "I'm praying for you" when that faith and prayer isn't going to fill up an empty gas tank of a stranded driver. A Good Samaritan that happens to be nice enough to stop fills the tank. Then the person saying the prayer takes credit for it, having faith that it was the prayer that got the kind person to cross the path of the stranded vehicle.NearKolobitenoreply@blogger.com
